Filmmaker Biodun Stephen returns to Agege and teases a new cinema project inspired by her roots and storytelling journey

Nigerian filmmaker Biodun Stephen has returned to Agege, Lagos, a location she says played a major role in shaping her storytelling style, while hinting at a new cinema project.

The Biodun Stephen Agege cinema project teaser was shared via her Instagram page, where she posted a video reflecting on her creative journey.

She described Agege as an important source of inspiration, noting that the environment helped shape many of the characters and stories in her films.

According to her, the market atmosphere, voices, and everyday experiences in the area continue to influence her work.

She also hinted that she is returning to those grassroots inspirations for an upcoming film set for cinema release.

Although she did not reveal the title or release date, the filmmaker confirmed that the project is currently in development.

Biodun Stephen began her filmmaking career with The Visit in 2015 and has since directed several Nollywood titles across romance and drama genres.

Her works include Picture Perfect, Seven and a Half Dates, Breaded Life, and Muri & Ko, among others.

Over the years, she has become one of Nollywood’s consistent voices, earning recognition at major industry awards, including the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards and Best of Nollywood Awards.
