In a candid interview with The Nation, Wilfred reflected on how Gen Z values and a move away from traditional norms are contributing to rising instability in modern families.

Speaking about her role in the TV series Sands of Time, the actress revealed that the experience prompted deep self-reflection on her parenting style.

“Parents of this generation are Gen Z parents. Back in our days, parents would not do most of the things we see today,” she said. “Look at what is happening to marriages now — you buy Aso Ebi and before you know it, they are divorced. We were not like that before. I’ve been married for over 30 years and I’m still happily married.”

Wilfred stressed the importance of balance in raising children, especially in an era where parenting boundaries have shifted. While watching herself on screen, she noticed traits of overprotectiveness.

“I realized I was overreacting with my children. During the act, I did not notice it, but while I re-watched it, I saw my faults,” she admitted.

“Even now, despite the fact that he is a graduate, my son still can’t sleep out. I thought I was protecting them, but I was overprotecting them.”
