In a recent Instagram story, the actor articulated his observations on how “clout” has essentially become a new form of social currency, driving many individuals to desperate measures in their pursuit of attention.

He noted that some attempt to buy their way into the spotlight using money, while others resort to tearing down established figures as a means of gaining notoriety. Ogbonna also pointed out the trend of individuals simply becoming excessively loud in an effort to be noticed.

“In today’s world, clout is the new currency, and many people are desperate to spend,” said IK Ogbonna in an Instagram story.

Despite the potential for these methods to generate temporary recognition, Ogbonna emphasized their lack of sustainability. He argued that while “forced fame” might lead to rapid initial attention and fleeting hype, it rarely endures due to the absence of a solid foundation.

Ogbonna cautioned that not all attention is genuine and advised that the fleeting nature of clout chasing often lacks the longevity required for a lasting career or legacy.

He concluded by stressing the importance of how fame is acquired, asserting that “fame without purpose fades,” whereas “fame built on truth, talent and consistency, that’s legacy.”

His commentary reflects a growing concern about the authenticity and transient nature of fame achieved through artificial means in the current social media-driven environment.
