Ed Sheeran Taylor Swift catch-up: The longtime friends shared a four-hour conversation following Swift’s engagement to Travis Kelce.

British singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran revealed that he spent four hours catching up with longtime friend Taylor Swift following the pop star’s engagement to NFL tight end Travis Kelce.

Speaking to Access Hollywood, Sheeran, 34, emphasised that their friendship remains strong despite recent rumours of tension.

“We’ve been friends for very, very many years. We’re super close and we see each other when we see each other, and when we see each other, we lock back into where we left off,” he said.

Sheeran, who limits his use of phones and social media, discovered Swift’s engagement via Instagram, like the rest of the public.

He downplayed concerns about strain between them following the closely timed releases of his album Play on September 12 and Swift’s The Life of a Showgirl on October 3.

“We had like a four-hour catch-up and it’s life stuff rather than… you know what I mean?” Sheeran added, describing their conversation as personal and meaningful rather than career-focused.

The Shape of You singer also reflected on the impact of social media on relationships, noting that constant connectivity can diminish genuine human connection.

“I kind of feel like being in touch with everyone, sort of you lose actual human connection,” he said.

Sheeran has previously shared that he and Swift have long catch-ups several times a year, sometimes lasting six hours, allowing them to maintain their close friendship despite busy schedules.

News of Swift’s engagement broke in August 2025, with the singer and Kelce sharing the announcement on Instagram.

Following the news, speculation arose about potential professional tension due to their overlapping album release schedules.
