Following his arrest for defamation, controversial singer Portable has publicly apologised to Fuji icon Saheed Osupa after the veteran musician withdrew his lawsuit

Earlier this week, Habeeb Okikiola, widely known as Portable, was arrested by the Kwara State Police Command over allegations of criminal defamation, threat to life, incitement, and conduct likely to cause a breach of peace.

These charges stemmed from online statements Portable made about Okunola Saheed, the Fuji singer known as Saheed Osupa. Portable was remanded in a correctional facility after initially failing to meet the ₦1 million bail and surety conditions set by the court.

However, in a surprising turn, Saheed Osupa withdrew the defamation lawsuit on Tuesday following appeals from prominent Nigerians.

Osupa stated that his initial action was a warning and that Portable agreed to retract his defamatory statements, admit their falsity, and sign a formal undertaking.

Following the withdrawal, Portable posted a video on Instagram, sporting a shaved head, and offered a direct apology to Saheed Osupa. He captioned the video, “God bless you, sir. I am sorry, Bami,” expressing remorse and respect.
