In an interview with actress Ayo Adesanya, the veteran explained that her frequent portrayal of tough mother-in-law figures in Yoruba films is purely a product of her craft.

“I am not wicked in reality. My faith in God guides me, and I live a modest lifestyle. I don’t indulge in drinking, smoking, or other habits people often associate with movie characters,” she clarified.

The actress credited her disciplined approach to acting to the influence of her late ‘brother’, Adeyemi Afolayan, widely known as Ade Love, one of Nollywood’s most respected pioneers.

Lola Idije rose to prominence in 1995 after her memorable performance as Madam Adisa in the film Deadly Affair, a role that cemented her place in the Nigerian movie industry.

Beyond acting, she has shaped Nigerian pop culture with catchphrases such as “Soro Soke Werey” and “Pele My Dear,” which went viral across social media, especially among younger audiences.
