Speaking on the Olofix podcast, the 51-year-old artist recounted meeting his wife in September 2003 after a five-year period of sexual abstinence.

Abdulkareem described his union as ordained by God, saying he was never meant to share his affection with anyone else.

He highlighted a profound moment in their marriage, when his wife donated one of her kidneys to save his life, interpreting the act as confirmation of their divine bond.

“I met my wife on September 18, 2003. We got married on December 11, 2004. Now, 20 years later, after I married my wife, God said ‘I am not done with you yet’. This is 21 years later. She gave me one of the reasons why I accepted your prayer,” Abdulkareem said.

While acknowledging that African tradition and Islam permit polygamy, he advised sincerity, arguing that it is impossible to love multiple women equally.

Abdulkareem described polygamous households as prone to tension, conflict and resentment.

“Truly, we are Africans. You are allowed to be polygamous in nature. Even Islam says that if you love women equally, you can marry as many as you can. But let us be very sincere. It is not possible to love women equally. You can only love one woman,” he said.
