Fr Kelvin Ugwu claims Ned Nwoko and Regina Daniels’ troubled marriage was a transactional union driven by greed, not genuine love

Catholic priest and social commentator, Fr. Kelvin Ugwu, has sparked controversy after claiming that the troubled marriage between billionaire politician Ned Nwoko and Nollywood actress Regina Daniels was never founded on true love.

Reacting to reports of an ongoing marital rift between the couple, the outspoken priest alleged that their union was purely transactional, driven by mutual greed and personal interests.

According to Fr. Ugwu, Nwoko was fixated on marrying a young virgin, while Regina was attracted to the billionaire’s wealth and political status.

“Ned was obsessed with virginity; Regina was obsessed with wealth. They both got what they wanted,” Fr. Ugwu stated.
“This is not a sacred marriage—it is a contract born out of greed. So whatever is happening now is a consequence of their choices.”

His remarks have since ignited heated discussions online, with many Nigerians divided over his blunt assessment.

While some commenters supported the priest’s view, describing the couple’s relationship as “a classic example of materialism and moral decay,” others criticised him for making moral judgments about a private relationship.

The couple, who married in 2019, have often made headlines for their age difference and public lifestyle. Neither Nwoko nor Regina has publicly responded to Fr. Ugwu’s statement as of press time.
