Regina Daniels’ family gives Ned Nwoko 48 hours to accept her bride price or face traditional action, amid growing family tension

Regina Daniels’ relatives from the Ogwashi-Uku community in Delta State have issued a 48-hour ultimatum to her estranged husband, Senator Ned Nwoko, demanding that he accept the bride price paid for the actress or face traditional sanctions.

The warning, contained in an open letter signed by Favour Awele Obi on behalf of the community, accused Nwoko of “disregarding local customs” and allegedly using his political position to intimidate members of Regina Daniels’ family.

According to the kinsmen, their custom allows any woman to end her marriage once her family returns the bride price. They claimed multiple attempts to refund the payment had been rejected by Nwoko.

“If he refuses again, the money will be publicly dropped at Ikeleke Quarter, symbolising the end of the marriage under Ogwashi-Uku tradition,” the letter stated.

The family also condemned the alleged arrest of Regina’s siblings, describing it as “an act of oppression” and calling for their immediate release.

This latest development follows Regina’s public claim that Nwoko ordered the arrest of her brother and sister after she declined to return to him.

The couple, who married in 2019, share two children. What began as one of Nollywood’s most talked-about unions has now spiralled into a public and deeply traditional standoff.
