Kelechi Udegbe recounts his near-death experience in a car accident, saying it transformed his faith and strengthened his relationship with God

Kelechi Udegbe near-death experience has reshaped the Nollywood actor’s outlook on life and spirituality, following a terrifying car crash in November 2023 that nearly claimed his life.

Speaking in an interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, Udegbe recounted how what began as an ordinary day quickly turned into a life-altering event.

“That accident was crazy. I was with Gregory Ojefua, my guy. We just finished where we were. I asked him where he was going. He said through Eko Bridge.

I said I was going through Third Mainland. And that was it. The next thing I remember was waking up in the hospital,” he said.

Udegbe explained that the incident left him with severe whiplash and limited neck movement, requiring extensive therapy. But it was his doctor’s words during recovery that left the deepest mark.

“When I came in to see the doctor three days later, he looked at me, checked the car again, and said, ‘Go and sin no more.’ It felt like Jesus Christ was talking to me,” Udegbe shared.

The actor admitted that while he had always been a Christian, the near-death experience took his relationship with God to a higher level, altering how he prays and lives daily.

“I would say before the accident, I was a Christian. I believed in God and prayed. But since the accident, my conversation with God and my belief in Him is a notch higher,” he added.
