Afolayan shared his thoughts in a post on Instagram, where he reflected on the impact of recent security challenges on ordinary Nigerians and urged people not to lose faith in the country’s future.

The award-winning filmmaker said the recent incidents had left him deeply troubled, noting that many citizens now go about their daily activities with uncertainty and fear.

“My heart is heavy with the disturbing stories of kidnappings and insecurity across our nation. It is painful that many of us now go about our daily lives with fear and uncertainty. My heart is in my mouth when on the road these days. I share in the concerns of countless families and pray for our safety,” he wrote.

Despite the challenges, Afolayan encouraged Nigerians to choose compassion, unity and hope rather than panic and division.

According to him, the country’s resilience has remained evident through difficult periods, and Nigerians must continue to support one another during uncertain times.

“Nigeria has weathered many storms, and each time, the light of its people has endured. Though today’s headlines may bring fear and sadness, let us not surrender our faith in tomorrow. Let us choose compassion over panic, unity over division, and hope over despair,” he stated.

The filmmaker also offered prayers for peace to return to affected communities and for vulnerable citizens to receive protection amid the security challenges.

His comments come as concerns continue to mount over reports of kidnappings, attacks on communities and growing public anxiety about safety in several parts of the country.
