Nedu Wazobia Court Case takes a turn as a Federal High Court bars police from arresting him over an N83m contract dispute, declaring it a civil matter

Justice Deinde Dipeolu granted the interim order following an ex parte motion filed by Nedu and five others, who accused the police of harassment on behalf of their business partners.

The court restrained the IGP, the AIG at Alagbon, and senior officers including Ngozi Braide, Stephen Onihane, and Echeng Julius from summoning or interrogating the applicants. The judge ruled that the matter was a purely civil dispute, not a criminal case.

Other applicants in the suit include Sarah Williams-Konha, Avalon Okpe, Ada Okpe, Barbara Okwaranobi, and Tokindrumz Pictures and Media Ltd.

Nedu’s legal team argued that the police were being wrongly used in a business quarrel, despite the X-Squad earlier clearing them of any crime.

The contract conflict began in 2024 after Nedu’s group partnered with Tolulope Ariyibi-Oke under the Metropolitan School of Business and Management to host an N83 million educational fundraising gala.

Trouble arose when partners demanded a refund of N60 million, which Nedu’s camp refused.

The case has been adjourned until September 29.
