Nollywood actress Nkechi Blessing Sunday has criticised colleagues who charge high fees to feature in films but fail to promote the projects on their social media platforms.

Nkechi Blessing Sunday expressed her frustration in a strongly worded Instagram post, stating that while actors are entitled to charge their worth, refusing to support the film after payment is unfair to producers.

The actress said the issue becomes problematic when actors collect millions of naira and then act as though they worked for free once the movie is released.

She stressed that even basic promotion, such as sharing the film with followers, often becomes a challenge.

The Nkechi Blessing film promotion stance has triggered widespread debate online, with social media users divided over whether promotion should be part of an actor’s contractual obligation.

In a firm warning, the actress stated that she would take serious action against any such behaviour on her projects, including involving law enforcement if necessary.

She urged actors unwilling to promote films to avoid working with her altogether.

Her comments have drawn mixed reactions, with some users arguing that acting fees do not automatically cover promotional duties. Others, however, backed her position, noting that visibility from cast members can significantly boost a film’s success.

The controversy highlights ongoing tensions within Nollywood over roles, expectations and compensation structures, particularly as digital promotion becomes central to audience reach.
