NowMuzik, one of Nigeria’s leading music labels, has released a short video titled Despite Everything, using the everyday experience of a dispatch biker, also known as bicycle delivery rider, Adebayo Isaac, to reflect deeper lessons about resilience, dignity and shared struggle in Nigerian society

Rather than focusing on spectacle, the film centres on what unites people across religion, tribe, class and politics: the daily hustle.

Through Isaac’s routine and challenges on the street, the video reminds viewers that behind uniforms, job titles and social labels are individuals simply trying to survive, dream and move forward.

At its core, Despite Everything speaks to perseverance in the face of humiliation, setbacks and quiet pain.

The rider’s experience becomes symbolic of a larger truth in Nigeria’s informal economy, where millions continue to show up every day despite uncertainty, harsh treatment and limited reward. The takeaway is clear: progress often begins not with grand victories, but with the decision to keep going.

The emotional arc of the film is reinforced by Despite (We Rise Up), a collaboration song by Cobhams Asuquo, Qing Madi & Magnito.

The track serves as a unifying anthem, shifting the narrative from individual struggle to collective hope, and underscoring the idea that resilience is shared, not isolated.

Produced by Lagos-based Iretura Agency, the short video reflects a growing creative approach that prioritises meaning over polish. It positions music not just as entertainment, but as a tool for empathy, social reflection and healing.

Beyond its central character, Despite Everything invites viewers to see themselves in the rider and in others who hustle daily: delivery workers, traders, conductors, security guards and countless others who form the backbone of urban life. The film’s lesson is not about pity, but about recognition and respect.

With this release, NowMuzik reinforces the message that art can amplify everyday stories and turn them into mirrors of society.

Despite Everything ultimately argues that while circumstances may differ, the human capacity to endure and rise remains a shared experience across Nigeria.
