Osun theatre practitioners mourn Olofa Ina

Members of the Theatre Art and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria have said they are mourning the death of Veteran Nollywood actor, Chief Adedeji Aderemi, popularly known as Olofa Ina.

The death occurred Thursday evening, as details of how he died were not immediately available.

Nollytrailers reports that the 73-year-old actor, in his lifetime, was well-known in the contemporary Yoruba theatre industry and the news of his death was announced by fellow actor, Saidi Balogun, via his Instagram handle (@SaidiBalogun), on Thursday night.

However, confirming the development during an interview with the Press, Ademola Adedokun, the Chief of Staff to the Osun State Governor, Theatre Art and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria, said the late Aderemi died in his home in Ede, Osun State, during a sickness.

He added that before his death was announced, there was no prior information that the late actor was indisposed.

He also said a delegation from TAMPAM would be visiting the family to discuss burial plans shortly.

“Baba Adediji Aderemi, popularly known as Olofa ‘na is dead. Going by what we were told, he died in his house in Ede this evening.

“We were shocked to hear of his death because we didn’t hear of his sickness. We will be visiting the family to discuss the burial plans.

“We are in mourning. We will miss him,” Adedokun said.
