Mike Ezuruonye Nollywood break revelation as actor says he stepped away due to exhaustion and credits Nosa Rex for helping his return

Nollywood actor Mike Ezuruonye has revealed that he once stepped away from the film industry due to severe mental exhaustion, crediting fellow actor Nosa Rex for playing a key role in his return to acting.

Mike revealed the reason behind Nollywood break,  it was shared in an emotional Instagram post on Monday, where the 43-year-old actor opened up about reaching a point of burnout that made him disengage completely from filmmaking activities.

According to Mike Ezuruonye, he had become mentally drained and stopped responding to calls from producers and directors, describing the period as one of emotional withdrawal rather than weakness.

“I was done mentally, checked out, left Nollywood behind,” he wrote, explaining that he needed time away from the pressures of the industry.

The actor said Nosa Rex, popularly known as Babarex, intervened during that period and encouraged him not to give up on his career.

He recalled Babarex insisting that his talent was still needed in the industry.

Mike also acknowledged the support of Nosa Rex’s wife, who ensured he was cared for during his time away, including sending meals to his home as a gesture of support.

Describing Babarex as “solid, gifted, kind, and built for greatness,” Mike expressed gratitude for the encouragement that helped him regain confidence and return to acting.

The actor, known for films such as Desire (2008) and Critical Decision, has remained a consistent figure in Nollywood since rising to prominence in the early 2000s, featuring in both English and indigenous productions.
