Oxlade reveals he avoids drugs and smoking, crediting his faith and family upbringing for his disciplined lifestyle

Afrobeats sensation Ikuforiji Olaitan, popularly known as Oxlade, has disclosed that he neither smokes nor takes hard drugs, attributing his disciplined lifestyle to his strong Christian and musical family background.

Speaking in a candid interview with gospel singer Tim Godfrey, the ‘Ku Lo Sa’ hitmaker explained that growing up in a choir deeply influenced his personality and musical approach.

He served as a choir coordinator across children, teen, youth, and mass choirs.

Oxlade highlighted his family’s musical and spiritual influence, noting that his grandmother is a deaconess and accomplished singer, his grandfather a multi-instrumentalist, and his mother a singer and dancer.

“My gospel music writing is actually the best. Gospel music is the best music,” he said.

He further attributed his success to divine guidance, stating, “You can’t tour 40 cities with your debut album if God doesn’t want it to happen.”
