Veteran Nollywood actress, Patience Ozokwor, has shared a fascinating insight into the complexities of managing stardom and her unexpected career path into acting.

In a recent appearance on the *Life Unscripted Podcast*, Ozokwor opened up about how she transitioned from aspiring to be a singer to becoming one of Nigeria’s most recognised film icons.

While Ozokwor is now beloved by fans for her iconic roles in Nollywood, she highlighted that becoming a star is only part of the journey. Maintaining stardom, she emphasised, requires even greater effort.

The actress explained that celebrities must work hard to stay connected to their fans and colleagues to ensure they remain relevant.

“Managing stardom is more difficult than becoming a star. To maintain stardom, you have to remember everybody on the street,” she remarked during the podcast.

Her words resonate deeply in an entertainment industry where fleeting fame can easily overshadow long-term success. Ozokwor also underlined the importance of passion and talent working in harmony, noting that while hard work is crucial, it is ultimately one’s talent that sets them apart from the rest.

Reflecting on her early career ambitions, Ozokwor recalled how she initially dreamt of becoming a singer. Growing up with a love for singing and participating in her church choir, the actress never envisioned her path leading her into acting.

She fondly remembers her hit song *National Moimoi*, which gained significant popularity and even took her on a tour across the United States.

However, the success of the song wasn’t without its challenges. Ozokwor revealed that some religious leaders disapproved of the song, highlighting the complexities of balancing personal aspirations with public perceptions.

“When I was small, I thought I was going to sing because I loved singing and being in the choir. But it turned out to be movies. My song *National Moimoi* took me around the whole of America. Some pastors were not even happy with me when I sang it,” she shared with a laugh.

Despite the challenges she faced, Patience Ozokwor’s unexpected journey into Nollywood has cemented her as one of the most influential and respected figures in the industry today. Her story continues to inspire countless fans and aspiring entertainers.
