Rachael Okonkwo Mega Carnival returns in 2026 as actress shares inspiring story behind the Nsukka outreach initiative launched in 2015

Nollywood actress Rachael Okonkwo on Friday, 1 May 2026, announced plans for the 2026 edition of her annual outreach event while reflecting on the origins of the Rachael Okonkwo Mega Carnival, which she launched in 2015 in Nsukka, Enugu State.

Rachael Okonkwo made the announcement via her Instagram page, where she shared images from previous editions of the carnival and explained that the initiative was inspired by her desire to give back to society and create opportunities for young people, children, and vulnerable women.

The actress described the Rachael Okonkwo Mega Carnival as more than an entertainment event, calling it a movement centred on empowerment, unity, and social impact.

She noted that the platform has consistently combined free entertainment with outreach programmes, business exposure opportunities, and community support activities.

Over the years, the carnival has hosted several prominent Nollywood figures, including Patience Ozokwo, Eucharia Anunobi, Ngozi Ezeonu, Mary Njoku, Ebele Okaro, Tonto Dikeh, Chinedu Ikedieze, Pete Edochie, Jackie Appiah, Mike Ezuruonye, Nkiru Sylvanus, Ken Erics, Angela Okorie, Zubby Michael, among others.

The event has also featured musical performances from artistes such as Kcee, Wizboy, Slim Brown, Kolaboy, and Harry B, contributing to its reputation as a major cultural gathering in southeastern Nigeria.

Rachael Okonkwo expressed gratitude to individuals and corporate sponsors who have supported the initiative since its inception, singling out Dano Milk for its long-term partnership with the project.

She reiterated that the carnival is designed to uplift communities through empowerment sessions, gift distribution, and support programmes targeted at families and small business owners.
