Tems Alleges Threat To Life Over Pregnancy Speculations

Published

Renowned Nigerian singer Temilade Openiyi, also known as Tems, disclosed that she faced death threats following rumours of her pregnancy.

The speculation gained momentum in September after Tems attended Burberry’s Spring/Summer 2023 London Fashion Week show in a striking black dress paired with a purple fluffy coat and matching heels.

This appearance sparked discussions on social media, with some suggesting she might be concealing a baby bump, and others speculating about Future’s involvement.

But in a recent interview with The Beat FM, Tems, 27, recounted her unsettling experience of receiving threatening messages via social media.

The singer clarified that the rumours implicated American rapper Future, who was purportedly linked to her alleged pregnancy.

Despite collaborating on the Grammy-winning song ‘Wait For U’ with Future and Drake, Tems emphatically stated that she has never met the American rapper.

“When I heard [the rumors] that I was pregnant, I didn’t actually think anybody believed it. I didn’t know it was serious until I started getting messages like death threats, like, ‘How dare you? Of all the people in the world, Future, really?’ And I’ve never met him in my life. So it’s crazy,” Tems said.

Tems also expressed her admiration for YBNL star Asake and revealed her interest in directing a music video for him, emphasising that her interest was purely professional.

She stated, “I love him. I can tell that he is very artistic,” clarifying that her affinity for Asake was solely related to her desire to direct his music video.
