Toyin Abraham reacts to Funke Akindele snub at a Lagos premiere, vowing never to greet her again amid renewed rivalry concerns

Nollywood actress and filmmaker Toyin Abraham has reacted strongly to an alleged snub by fellow actress Funke Akindele at a movie premiere in Lagos, vowing never to greet her colleague again.

The incident occurred on Sunday at the premiere of The Return of Arinzo, hosted by actress Iyabo Ojo, where several top figures in the film industry gathered.

A viral video from the event showed Abraham approaching a table where Akindele was seated alongside Mercy Aigbe and Ojo.

Abraham appeared to lean in to exchange greetings, but Akindele remained composed and did not visibly acknowledge her, sparking widespread reactions online.

Breaking her silence, Abraham issued a strongly worded response, declaring that she had unfollowed Akindele on social media and would not initiate greetings again.

She said, “I have unfollowed her. God forbid bad thing. If I ever greet her again, that means I am a bastard.”

The development has reignited long-standing speculation about a rivalry between the two actresses, both regarded as dominant forces in Nollywood’s box office space.

Their careers have often intersected through competing film releases and fan-driven comparisons.

However, the latest tension contrasts sharply with recent public displays of goodwill.

In late 2025, Abraham and Akindele shared cordial moments at a high-profile social event hosted by Toke Makinwa, where both actresses were seen exchanging pleasantries.

They were also captured in a warm exchange at another film premiere last year, fuelling speculation at the time that any lingering differences had been resolved.

Observers note that both actresses had previously downplayed reports of a feud.

Abraham publicly celebrated Akindele’s box office milestone, while Akindele responded with goodwill, suggesting a temporary easing of tensions.

Despite those reconciliatory gestures, Sunday’s incident has revived debate within the industry and among fans, highlighting the fragile dynamics that often shape relationships at the top of Nollywood’s competitive landscape.
