The Nollywood veteran, fondly known as Lola Idije, revealed in a recent interview that the journey of single parenting comes with heavy burdens and little societal support.

Afolayan, who became a single mother after the death of her husband, explained that raising children alone meant taking on responsibilities such as paying school fees and providing daily meals without assistance.

She lamented that society often judges single mothers harshly rather than offering them the encouragement they need. “Support for single parents is scarce, and that makes the experience a tough one,” she said.

Despite the hardships, the Yoruba actress urged single mothers to remain strong and focused, stressing that their primary responsibility was to nurture and guide their children.

“Single mothers should focus on the task at hand and raise their children well,” she advised.
