She noted that the changing media landscape had made it increasingly important for entertainers to think carefully about their words and actions, particularly when communicating with the public.

In her message, the actress called on theatre practitioners to reflect on whether their conduct aligns with the professional standards they claim to uphold.

“If we are cautious of our utterances if we are professionals that most of us think we are,” she said.

Adesanya also highlighted the different pathways through which practitioners enter the industry, acknowledging those with formal academic training as well as those who develop their skills through practical experience.

She urged them to recognise the value of their shared craft and avoid conduct that could damage its reputation.

Reflecting on the role of entertainment in creating opportunities, Adesanya recalled years of encouragement among practitioners that their craft would eventually open doors for them, regardless of the obstacles they faced.

She called on industry members to continue protecting the work that sustains their careers and contributes positively to their communities.

“Given what this social media era has caused, let’s keep guiding the crafts that pave the way and bring good to our folds,” she said.

The actress also expressed pride in her identity as a theatre practitioner, describing the profession as one that creates wisdom.

“I am proud to be a theatre practitioner because we create wisdom. What of you?” she added.
