In a video that quickly gained traction online, Wumi approached Afeez, knelt before him and asked for forgiveness.

The actress pleaded, “I’m sorry, sir. Please forgive me,” as she remained on her knees. Afeez initially attempted to step back but soon lifted her up and embraced her, signalling an end to the dispute that had dominated headlines since August.

Two months earlier, Wumi had criticised Afeez over remarks he made on the African A-List podcast, where he said her film characters reflected her real-life persona and suggested that “violence is her comfort zone.”

Her fiery response, delivered in a now-deleted Instagram video, dismissed the interview as rubbish and sparked heated conversations across social media.

The backlash that followed was intense. Many users defended Afeez, arguing that his comments were fair observations based on her roles.

The pressure reportedly took a toll on Wumi, who was said to have been hospitalised shortly after the online storm intensified.

Her public apology marks a significant turning point, with fans and colleagues praising the move as a mature and powerful act of humility.
