Yul Edochie native doctor calling

Nollywood actor Yul Edochie sparks debate by urging Nigerian pastors to embrace their true calling as native doctors, rejecting Western stereotypes.

Controversial Nollywood actor and self-proclaimed cleric Yul Edochie has stirred up fresh debates with his views on the spiritual roles of Nigerian pastors.

Taking to Instagram, Edochie claimed that many pastors in Nigeria are ignoring their true calling to become native doctors due to societal misconceptions and Western influence.

He pointed out that the film industry, alongside Western narratives, has historically painted native doctors as evil, leading many to suppress their authentic spiritual paths.

“Many pastors today actually have the calling to be native doctors, but they are refusing to answer the call because ‘oyibo’ people brainwashed us to believe it is evil. And Nollywood has also contributed in making native doctors look evil,” he wrote.

Edochie emphasised that being a native doctor is a divine vocation, one meant to help humanity rather than harm it. He drew parallels between pastors and native doctors, noting that both have the potential to do good or evil based on individual choices.

“A true native doctor fights evil, unless he decides to be evil. The same way a pastor can decide to be evil. Go and answer your call.

You may never have fulfilment in your life if you don’t answer your call,” he added.

Edochie’s remarks have sparked significant conversation, with some applauding his boldness while others criticised his views as controversial and divisive.

As one of Nollywood’s most polarising figures, Edochie continues to challenge societal norms, pushing the boundaries of spiritual and cultural discourse in Nigeria.
