Popular Nigerian crossdresser and socialite, Okuneye Idris Olanrewaju, more famously known as Bobrisky, has become the latest victim of an online romance scam.

The social media personality revealed his shock after a fraudster duped him out of $990. Bobrisky took to his Instagram page to express his disappointment, admitting he never anticipated falling prey to such a scheme.

According to Bobrisky, the individual contacted him via direct message several months ago. The scammer claimed to reside in the United States initially before stating he had relocated to Canada.

Over the course of their online relationship, the fraudster maintained regular contact, frequently calling Bobrisky and feigning genuine interest in his life.

“I never thought in my life I will be a client to anybody,” Bobrisky wrote on his social media. “This guy came to my DM, and we got talking — close to a few months now. He calls me almost every day. He said he lived in the USA but moved to Canada.”

The situation took a turn when a client based in the U.S. contacted Bobrisky regarding an advertisement and wished to make a deposit using CashApp.

Bobrisky then sought assistance from the individual he believed to be his online partner to receive the payment.

“Few weeks later, someone in USA reached out for ads. She said she needed a CashApp to pay her deposit and I asked this guy talking to me. He said he would give me his own. As soon as he got the money, he blocked me immediately,” Bobrisky explained.

Following the incident, the socialite shared screenshots of his conversations with the alleged scammer, as well as a photograph, on his Instagram page.

He issued a strong warning to his followers and the general public to exercise caution and avoid falling victim to similar deceptive tactics employed in online romance scams.
