Bovi Nomzamo Mbatha AMVCA hosts announced as duo set to lead 2026 awards, replacing IK Osakioduwa after 11 years

Nigerian comedian Bovi Ugboma and South African actress Nomzamo Mbatha have been announced as hosts of the 12th edition of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards, scheduled to hold in Lagos.

The organisers confirmed that the duo will take over hosting duties from Ik Osakioduwa, who has anchored the prestigious event since its inception in 2013.

The announcement marks a significant shift for the awards, introducing a fresh dynamic after more than a decade of consistent hosting.

In a statement shared on Instagram, organisers described the pair as a blend of comedy, storytelling and global appeal, citing their influence across Africa as a key factor in their selection.

Bovi Ugboma is widely recognised for his humour and stage presence, while Nomzamo Mbatha has earned acclaim for her acting career and humanitarian contributions.

The organisers said the combination is expected to deliver a vibrant and engaging experience for audiences at the event.

The nominations for the 2026 edition have already been released, with films such as Gingerrr and The Herd leading with nine nominations each.

To Kill A Monkey secured eight nominations, while My Father’s Shadow followed with seven.

Veteran actress Joke Silva will serve as head judge for the awards.

The ceremony is set to take place on May 9, 2026, at the Eko Hotel and Suites, bringing together leading figures from across Africa’s film and television industry.
