Comedian AY defends 2Face against online criticism over his divorce, calling for empathy instead of sensationalism in public discussions

 

Famous Nigerian comedian AY has come to the defence of singer 2Face, criticizing those condemning the artist for divorcing his wife, Annie, without addressing the underlying causes of their marital issues.

The announcement of 2Face’s divorce has triggered a wave of reactions on social media, particularly among fellow celebrities, with many quick to cast judgement.

Speaking out amid the backlash, AY urged critics to focus on understanding the reasons behind the breakdown of the marriage rather than adding fuel to the fire.

He emphasized that no one enters marriage intending for it to fail and called on ‘online in-laws’ and blogs to choose empathy over sensationalism.

In an Instagram story post, AY wrote: “The man is always the monster in every story. Until you hear the true story.” He continued on his X account, saying:

“Instead of casting blame in broken marriages, why not focus on why the institution itself is under attack? No one goes in with a plan to fail.”

The comedian also expressed concern about the way some social media users revel in the drama surrounding such personal matters, warning that real lives are involved.

“It is troubling to see online in-laws and blogs revel in sensationalism, often at the expense of those who are hurting. Real lives are involved.

Let’s choose empathy over drama and content. Some of you will never rest until you lead your fellow human to suicide,” he wrote.
