In a groundbreaking achievement for Nigerian cinema, Funke Akindele’s film, “A Tribe Called Judah,” has swiftly become the highest-grossing title of 2023, amassing an impressive ₦400 million in just 12 days since its nationwide cinema release on December 15, 2023.
The announcement, made by Film One Entertainment, the movie’s official distributor, on Instagram, solidifies its place among the top five highest-grossing Nigerian films of all time.
This remarkable success places it in league with iconic titles like “The Wedding Party” and “Omo Ghetto: The Saga.” Akindele, who produced and directed the film, weaves a compelling narrative about a single mother and her sons, each with different fathers, who unite for a daring heist to save their mother.
