Genevieve Nnaji returns to television in BBC’s Wahala, a six-part drama exploring friendship, secrets and betrayal in London

Nollywood actress and filmmaker Genevieve Nnaji is set to make a return to television with a new six-part drama series titled Wahala, produced by the BBC.

The project marks a significant comeback for Nnaji, who joins an international ensemble cast in the highly anticipated adaptation of Nikki May’s novel Wahala.

The series is written by BAFTA-nominated screenwriter Theresa Ikoko and features a strong female-led cast including Adelayo Adedayo, Deborah Ayorinde, Cush Jumbo and Susan Wokoma alongside Nnaji.

Set in London, the drama explores the lives of four Nigerian-British women whose long-standing friendship begins to fracture under the weight of personal struggles, work pressure and family challenges.

Tensions escalate when buried secrets from the past resurface, triggering betrayal and emotional conflict that threatens to destroy their bond.

The storyline blends drama and psychological depth, offering a gripping portrayal of friendship, identity and trust in a fast-changing environment.

Speaking about her involvement, Genevieve Nnaji described the project as exciting and meaningful, expressing enthusiasm about working with the production team.

“I’m very happy to be joining Wahala and to be working with such a brilliant team. It’s an intriguing story and I’m excited to be a part of it,” she said.
