Veteran Nollywood actress Ireti Doyle has opened up on the emotional complexity behind her divorce, revealing that her decision to leave her marriage was delayed by deep consideration for her children.

Ireti Doyle explained that the choice to end her marriage to fellow actor Patrick Doyle was not immediate, but instead a gradual and carefully weighed process shaped largely by her responsibilities as a mother.

Speaking in an interview with Morayo Afolabi-Brown, Ireti Doyle said she remained in the marriage longer than she might have otherwise because she prioritised the stability and emotional well-being of her children, who were very young at the time.

“I factored in the children,” Ireti Doyle said, noting that her eldest son was five years old while her youngest was only 18 months when the family structure was still forming.

Her reflections highlighted the emotional weight carried by many parents in similar situations, where decisions about separation are often influenced by concerns over long-term family impact rather than immediate personal desire.
