May D warns fans against comparing him to Wizkid, stating he’s a “different breed” and calling for respect of his unique musical journey

Nigerian singer May D has strongly warned his fans against comparing him to any of his colleagues in the music industry, particularly superstar Wizkid. The ‘Soundtrack’ crooner made the statement in a recent post on X, expressing his unique position in the industry.

“Don’t ever compare me to anyone in this industry again!! Especially Wiz!! I’m a different breed! God’s baby,” May D boldly declared.

His statement has sparked significant attention, as it comes on the back of previous comments where the singer claimed that Wizkid wouldn’t have reached his current level of success if not for May D’s fallout with his former record label, Square Records.

May D suggested that the split held back his own career trajectory, and had he stayed with the label, he would have been on the same level as Wizkid and Davido.

May D initially rose to fame after signing with Square Records in 2011. However, his time with the label ended in August 2012 when it was officially announced that he was no longer part of the record company.

Despite the setback, May D has continued to build his career, maintaining his presence in the Nigerian music scene.

In his recent remarks, the singer made it clear that he sees himself as a “different breed,” and his musical journey is incomparable to those of others, including Wizkid.
