Speed Darlington has been arrested again in Owerri, just weeks after his October release, following another contentious incident.

Speed Darlington first made headlines in early October following his detention over a controversial video in which he allegedly mocked fellow musician Burna Boy’s association with American rapper Diddy.

The video emerged amid legal controversies involving Diddy, who faced FBI scrutiny over allegations of sexual exploitation.

The singer was released on bail on October 9 after spending five days in police custody. His lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, confirmed the latest arrest via a Facebook post, stating:

“Our client Speed Darlington, a.k.a AKPI, has been arrested by the Nigerian police in Owerri at his show upon return to Nigeria.”

Efforts to gather more details from the Nigeria Police Force have been unsuccessful, as the Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, did not respond to inquiries.

Fans and supporters have taken to social media to express concern and confusion about the repeated arrests of the outspoken artist, who is known for his controversial persona and bold commentary on social issues.

The incident raises questions about the circumstances leading to his detention and has added to ongoing discussions about freedom of expression and accountability within Nigeria’s entertainment industry.
