To avoid disqualification, the NOSC highlighted several key eligibility criteria:

  • Feature-length (over 40 minutes), produced outside the U.S.
  • At least 50% of dialogue in a non-English language (Pidgin English is acceptable)
  • Accurate and legible English subtitles
  • Must comply with AMPAS-approved technical specs (35 mm, 70 mm, or Digital Cinema formats)
  • A theatrical release in Nigeria of at least 7 consecutive days between December 1, 2024, and October 31, 2025

The NOSC is the only body recognized by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) to oversee Nigeria’s entry for the Best International Feature Film category.

The chosen film will represent the nation at the Oscars in Los Angeles on March 15, 2026, joining a prestigious global lineup in cinema’s most revered event. The ceremony will be broadcast in over 200 territories worldwide.

Final Deadline: September 12, 2025

Filmmakers are encouraged to review the NOSC guidelines carefully and prepare their entries promptly.
