Jaiye Kuti reveals her plans to continue acting into her 80s, sharing insights on craft, discipline, and staying relevant in Nollywood

Jaiye Kuti has revealed she has no plans of leaving the screen anytime soon, envisioning herself acting well into her 80s and beyond. The veteran Nollywood actress, with decades of experience, shared her thoughts in an interview with Saturday Sun.

“If you’re not lazy and you remain focused, the future is very bright. I see myself at 80 still doing this. This isn’t a job you retire from. Even at 100, fans will still want to see your face.

That’s how beautiful this job is,” Kuti said, emphasizing her lifelong passion for acting.

While acknowledging the importance of education, the celebrated actress stressed that talent, instincts, and unique skills in acting often cannot be taught in schools.

“Some actors have body language, facial expressions, instinctive reactions that can’t be taught, yet they excel at it,” she noted.

Kuti also advised young actors not to get distracted by social media fame or industry gossip. “Don’t be discouraged by any news.

Some people will say directors or producers will harass you, nothing like that has ever happened to me. A director can like an actor; likeness is not a crime,” she stated.

The Aye Afunwa star-actress, known for her youthful appearance, also shared her secrets for staying vibrant on screen. “In entertainment, you don’t want to get old because what you sell is your face, your body, your personality.

That’s why people don’t see us as ageing — even though the age is there, we keep rebranding. I walk a lot. I prefer to walk. I also drink plenty of water to keep my skin healthy,” she revealed.
