Veteran Nollywood actor Nkem Owoh has spoken candidly about how his long-standing fame as a comic actor continues to shape public reactions to him in everyday life, sometimes in ways he finds uncomfortable during serious moments.

Nkem Owoh fame personal life frustration was revealed during an interview with Selah Meditate, where the actor reflected on how audiences often struggle to separate his on-screen comic persona from his real-life identity.

Nkem Owoh explained that his reputation for humour means people frequently react with laughter even when he is in situations that demand seriousness and composure.

He recalled a particular incident at a public gathering where he was invited to lead a prayer, only for some attendees to begin laughing as soon as he started speaking, an experience he described as unsettling.

According to him, the moment left him visibly uncomfortable, as he stressed that prayer is a deeply personal and serious act that should not be treated lightly, regardless of public perception.

The veteran actor also used the opportunity to comment on a growing trend in the entertainment industry where casting decisions are increasingly influenced by social media popularity rather than acting ability.

He argued that online fame, no matter how widespread, cannot replace genuine talent and professional training in the craft of acting, warning that the industry risks undermining quality if such trends continue unchecked.
