Grammy-winning Nigerian singer Temilade Openiyi, popularly known as Tems, has made history by becoming the first African woman to be involved in Major League Soccer (MLS) ownership. The singer joined San Diego FC (SDFC) as a club partner through her company, *The Leading Vibe*.

The announcement was made by SDFC on Wednesday, marking a significant milestone for both the artist and African representation in global sports business.

San Diego FC Welcomes Tems to Ownership Group

San Diego FC chairman Sir Mohamed Mansour expressed excitement over Tems’ involvement, emphasising her global influence and connection to Africa.

*”We are delighted that Tems has joined San Diego FC as a club partner,”* Mansour said. *”Tems is a globally significant artist who will help us reach new audiences and spread the word about our unique project, which, of course, has its foundations in sub-Saharan Africa through the unique Right to Dream organisation.”*
