Fondly called TK, Kelani described the project as the culmination of over three years of resilience, creativity, and unwavering collaboration.

The film, adapted from a novel by renowned playwright Professor Femi Osofisan, explores silence, truth, power, and survival in the aftermath of historical events, told through the eyes of ordinary people.

Kelani emphasized that Cordelia is not just a film but a journey—one that celebrates the power of literature and cinema to preserve culture.

“African literature plays a pivotal role in cinema because it reflects identity, preserves oral traditions, and strengthens our cultural heritage,” he explained.

The veteran cinematographer, producer, and director highlighted the essentials of filmmaking, noting that strong technical grounding and storytelling rooted in literature remain vital. For him, society itself provides the richest stories.

“I am a product of the society, and I respond to its challenges. My work mirrors the struggles of the people, blending entertainment with meaningful narratives,” Kelani said.

Despite technological advances, the filmmaker insists tradition remains central to his art. He continues to document Yoruba culture, ensuring its survival against modern influences.

Writing and producing films in Yoruba, he noted, is both a personal passion and a cultural responsibility.

On his career-long challenges, Kelani revealed that every production brought its own demands, from funding to evolving technology. Yet he views filmmaking as a continuous exercise in problem-solving, which excites him.

At 77, Kelani attributes his youthful energy to discipline, balance, and his love for storytelling. “I thank God for good health, and I know when to slow down, rest, and revive myself before returning to work,” he said with a smile.
