Nigerian singer Victony reflects on his near-fatal accident and emotional recovery, revealing his struggles and journey to sobriety ahead of his tour

Nigerian Afrobeats star Anthony Ebuka Victor, better known as Victony, has spoken candidly about the emotional toll of his past struggles, revealing that his personal challenges robbed him of his youth.

Victony car accident headlines resurfaced as fans reflected on the 2021 incident that nearly claimed his life.

The singer was involved in a ghastly motor accident that killed one and left three others injured. He sustained serious injuries and was confined to a wheelchair for nearly a year.

Shortly after the accident, Victony rose to mainstream fame with the release of Holy Father, a chart-topping collaboration with Mayorkun that became a defining moment in his recovery and music career.

Reflecting on the pain of those years, Victony posted on X, formerly Twitter, “My troubles stole my youth.”

My troubles stole my youth, but I’m reclaiming every part of it now—sober, grateful, and ready to feel everything on stage.

In another update, the singer revealed he has been sober for the past three months, marking a major personal milestone. “3 months sober, Glory,” he wrote.

Victony also disclosed that prior to this new chapter, he had never performed on stage without consuming alcohol.

However, he now plans to change that as he embarks on his *Stubborn* tour, aiming for a more authentic connection with his audience.
