The film weaves themes of academic pressure, dark secrets, and the haunting cost of perfection in a setting all too familiar  a prestigious Nigerian boarding school.

Set in an elite secondary school, Ms. Kanyin centres on Amara, a brilliant but desperate student who makes a reckless decision in her quest for academic excellence.

In doing so, she unknowingly awakens an ancient spirit. What begins as a calculated risk quickly unravels into a terrifying struggle for survival.

At the centre of the chaos is the titular Ms. Kanyin, a once-quiet teacher whose reality is shattered by the darkness lurking within her school’s walls.

Directed by Jerry Ossai, the film stars Temi Otedola, Michelle Dede, Kanaga Jnr, and Tolu George, alongside a powerful ensemble of rising young actors.

With Ms. Kanyin, we wanted to explore fear through a Nigerian lens drawing on our folklore, school experiences, and the silent battles young people face every day.

Together, they deliver a story that is emotionally raw, culturally rich, and chillingly suspenseful — blending coming-of-age intensity with West African folklore.

“With Ms. Kanyin, we wanted to tell a horror story rooted in our lived experiences  the pressure of growing up, the fear of failure, and the consequences of silence.
