Just three days before the release of this blockbuster on December 15, Funke Akindele has shattered her own records, solidifying her position as a formidable force in the industry.

Expressing her gratitude on Instagram, the actress credited her success to God, the cast and crew of A Tribe Called Judah, and her Nigerian audience. She proclaimed her immense pride in achieving an unprecedented cinematic triumph in 2023.

A Tribe Called Judah has secured the top spot as the number one film in Nigeria and West Africa, marking the biggest opening for a Funke Akindele film and the largest opening in Nollywood’s history, among other accolades.

Congratulatory messages from fans, friends, and colleagues have been inundating the actress following this monumental achievement.

Funke Akindele’s record-breaking journey doesn’t stop here; she had previously set a record in the Nigerian film industry by surpassing her own highest-grossing film at the box office with Battle on Buka Street, which raked in 640 million naira, overtaking her 2020 release Omo Ghetto The Saga’s 636 million naira.

Filmone’s Instagram post highlighted that the only competition the actress faced was with herself.
