Osuofia Will Turn Two Films Into Seven Unless You Direct Him Hard

Osuofia controlled on set gives his best, producer Martins Onyebuchi Onyemobi says, warning the star will talk until a two-parter becomes seven films

Nollywood producer Martins Onyebuchi Onyemobi said veteran actor Nkem Owoh, popularly known as Osuofia, delivers his best work when a director keeps him tightly handled on set.

The remarks circulated on Tuesday, 15 September 2026, as a light industry note on how to work with one of Igbo comedy’s most familiar faces.

“If you give Osuofia a movie script, all you need to do is control him. When you control him, you will get the best out of him. But if you allow him, he will talk from now till tomorrow. Once he agrees to do the job, he will give you everything he has. If the movie is supposed to be Part 1 and Part 2, Osuofia will end up giving you Part 1 all the way to Part 7,” Martins Onyebuchi Onyemobi said.

The line is affectionate shop talk, not a complaint. Nkem Owoh built a career on overflow: long speeches, physical business, and the title role in Osuofia in London that stuck as a public name.

Producers who want two tidy parts have always had to cut. Viewers who want the extra riffs have always waited for the extra discs.

Online replies treated the quote as obvious. @Fub114236 wrote “No lies.” @Kosisochuk8955 wrote “Real.” @IamKennedyJr steered off-topic toward character. None of that settles how sets should run. It does confirm that Osuofia controlled on set is now a standing joke as much as a method.

The producer’s warning is also a compliment. Energy that can stretch a film to seven parts is the same energy that filled halls when home video was king. Control, in this telling, is how you bottle it.

Nkem Owoh has not issued a reply in the circulated clips. Until he does, the last word belongs to the man holding the call sheet.
