Actor Okanlawon Marketing Journey

Actor Okanlawon shares how supporting his mother’s bakery business during and after studying Chemical Engineering helped him master marketing skills

Actor Okanlawon’s marketing journey began long before he found fame on screen. During an interview on Rubbin’ Minds, he revealed that while studying Chemical Engineering at university, he supported his mother’s bread and cake business by selling products to schools like Yabatech, Babcock University, and Covenant University.

After graduation, Okanlawon continued this business for two more years at his mother’s request. “That experience taught me marketing for 10 years,” he said, crediting it for helping him secure a marketing executive role in 2013 despite having no formal marketing training.

Alongside his business efforts, Okanlawon nurtured his creative side by joining a drama group on campus and reading literature, despite his science background.

This artistic flair eventually led to his acting breakthrough when an audition opportunity arose, landing him two roles.

Since then, Okanlawon has starred in acclaimed films like King of Boys: The Return of the King, Blood Sisters, Elesin Oba, and Lisabi: The Uprising, earning multiple award nominations and industry recognition.
