Nigerian superstar Wizkid has matched his compatriot Burna Boy’s record as the Nigerian artist with the most charting albums in Billboard 200 history.

The Starboy boss achieved this milestone with the debut of his latest album, Morayo, at number 98 on the Billboard 200. The album sold 13,000 units in its first week, marking Wizkid’s fourth appearance on the prestigious chart.

“Wizkid ties Burna Boy as the Nigerian artist with the most charting albums in Billboard 200 history (4 each),” global music monitoring platform Chart Data announced on X (formerly Twitter) on Friday.

Beyond the Billboard 200, Morayo also made a strong impression on the Billboard World Albums chart, debuting at number 4. This reinforces Wizkid’s global influence and his continued rise in international music rankings.

Wizkid’s achievement puts him in league with Burna Boy, whose latest album I Told Them… also climbed the Billboard charts earlier this year. Both artists now boast four charting albums, a testament to their consistency and worldwide appeal.

Meanwhile, fellow Nigerian artist Davido may soon join the race. With three albums already debuting on the Billboard 200 and his highly anticipated fifth studio album, 5IVE, set for release next year, he could soon achieve a similar milestone.

As Nigerian music continues to captivate global audiences, artists like Wizkid, Burna Boy, and Davido are spearheading the Afrobeats movement, making history on global platforms and shining a spotlight on Africa’s vibrant music scene.
