Nollywood actor Bucci Franklin announces the death of his mother, Joy Odurukwe, receiving condolences from fans and colleagues across social media

Nollywood actor Bucci Franklin has announced the passing of his mother, Joy Odurukwe, sharing the news on Instagram on Monday.

The ‘To Kill A Monkey’ star posted an obituary notice accompanied by a brief caption, “Hey Mama,” with a dove emoji.

The actor did not disclose the date or cause of death.

Following the announcement, fans and colleagues from the entertainment industry flooded Franklin’s comment section with messages of sympathy and support.

Franklin began his career in broadcasting as one of the pioneer on-air personalities at Love FM 104.5, Abuja, co-hosting the Morning Show and later anchoring Abuja on The Move for five years.

He later transitioned into acting, making appearances in AY Makun’s 2013 TV series AY’s Crib before starring in Nollywood films such as Rattlesnake: The Ahanna Story, The Wait, and A Weekend to Forget.

In previous interviews, Franklin reflected on growing up without a father figure, noting the challenges of navigating life without male guidance.

He has often praised his mother for raising him single-handedly and highlighted the importance of positive role models for young boys.
