In a revealing interview on Biola Bayo’s television show, Nollywood actress Bukky Fagbuyi opened up about the difficult and inappropriate pressures she faced at the beginning of her acting career.

Fagbuyi shared that she was repeatedly informed by various individuals within the industry that her advancement would be contingent upon her willingness to engage in sexual relationships with producers and marketers.

“More than once, I was told that if I didn’t agree to their demands, I wouldn’t go far in the industry,” the actress stated, highlighting the disturbing expectations she encountered.

Despite these unsettling experiences, Fagbuyi maintained her integrity and refused to compromise her values. “I’m not claiming to be perfect, but I will only do what feels right to me. No one can pressure me into doing something I never wanted,” she asserted.

Fagbuyi acknowledged the positive influences in her early career, specifically crediting respected actor Muyiwa Ademola for providing her with crucial opportunities that helped her establish herself in Nollywood.

She described him as instrumental in launching her career. Additionally, she expressed gratitude towards actress Toyosi Adesanya for her unwavering support and encouragement during her formative years in the industry, calling her a pillar of strength.

Transitioning to personal topics, Fagbuyi also shared her perspective on relationships and marriage. While acknowledging marriage as a “beautiful institution,” she cautioned women against desperately pursuing it at the expense of their well-being.

“You don’t have to chase it. Just wait, pray, and focus on your peace of mind,” she advised, urging women to prioritize emotional stability over societal pressures.
