“My contract with DMW has been done for about 3 to 4 years but I’m still with them. After this interview, the next person I will be seeing is Davido,” Mayorkun stated, emphasizing the enduring personal connection between the two artists.

Mayorkun also shared details about his upcoming musical project, clarifying that it will be released under the Sony Music label. He further disclosed that his working relationship with Sony Records has been ongoing for the past three years.

Mayorkun was initially signed to Davido Music Worldwide (DMW) from 2016 to 2021. His discovery by Davido is a well-known story in the Nigerian music industry.

In February 2016, Davido stumbled upon a cover of his single “The Money” performed by Mayorkun on Twitter. Impressed by Mayorkun’s talent, Davido reached out, leading Mayorkun to leave his job in the banking sector to pursue a full-time music career. His debut single, “Eleko,” was subsequently released under the DMW label in 2016.

Mayorkun’s recent statements reassure fans that his professional departure from DMW has not affected his personal relationship with Davido, highlighting the supportive and familial environment often found within the Nigerian music scene.
