Ex-BBNaija star DeeOne claims only he, Ebuka, and Bisola remain relevant, questioning if the reality show is a blessing or a curse

Former Big Brother Naija housemate and comedian DeeOne has sparked controversy by claiming that only he, TV host Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, and actress Bisola Aiyeola remain relevant among the show’s numerous alumni.

In a video shared on his TikTok page, DeeOne questioned whether participation in the reality show was a blessing or a curse. He argued that several former housemates who were thriving before joining the show saw their careers stall afterward.

“In the history of Big Brother Naija, only three of us [housemates] are still relevant today: DeeOne, Ebuka, and Bisola. After the three of us, who else? This is not to say that the rest are not working. We have over 150 ex-housemates. How many are relevant?”

 

He clarified that he was not referring to financial success but rather public relevance. According to him, many contestants entered the house seeking fame, yet found it more difficult to sustain after the show.

Using past contestants as examples, he pointed out that Erica Nlewedim, who had an acting career before BBNaija, struggled to maintain her momentum post-show.

He also mentioned musician Teddy A, who once toured Africa with his music but saw a decline in his career after the reality series. Laycon, the BBNaija Lockdown winner, was another example he cited as facing career stagnation.

“Most of us went into the Big Brother Naija house in pursuit of fame, not even the prize money. But when you come out, it’s ten times more difficult.”

 

DeeOne’s comments have sparked debate among fans of the reality show. While some agree that maintaining relevance after BBNaija is challenging, others argue that many former housemates continue to thrive in various industries.
