Former Minister of Women Affairs, Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye, has officially joined Nigeria’s film industry, Nollywood, just months after leaving office.

Kennedy-Ohanenye, who was dismissed from her ministerial position by President Bola Tinubu in October 2024, has now shifted her focus to filmmaking.

She was appointed as Minister of Women Affairs in August 2023 but was removed alongside four others in a cabinet reshuffle.

The 51-year-old politician announced her new venture on her X (formerly Twitter) handle, sharing a video from her latest film project. This marks a significant transition from politics to the entertainment industry.

Beyond politics and filmmaking, Kennedy-Ohanenye is also a lawyer and entrepreneur. She joined the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2015 and made history as the party’s first female presidential aspirant in 2023.

Although she later stepped down to support President Tinubu, her political ambitions were widely recognised.

Her move to Nollywood adds to the growing trend of public figures venturing into the entertainment industry. As she embarks on this new journey, many will be watching to see how she navigates the world of filmmaking.
