Patience Ozokwor Nkem Owoh recreate their iconic Ukwa scene, sparking nostalgia as Nollywood fans celebrate the veteran actors

Nollywood veterans Patience Ozokwor and Nkem Owoh have reunited on a film set in August 2026 to recreate their memorable Ukwa and Suzanna exchange, delighting fans with a nostalgic reminder of their celebrated screen partnership.

The recreation, shared online by filmmaker Lylaws, brought back the comic chemistry between Owoh, who played Ukwa, and Ozokwor, who portrayed Suzanna, his sister-in-law in the popular Nigerian film.

In the short video, Owoh is seen fetching water before Ozokwor approaches him and asks him to help buy vegetables. In the familiar comic exchange, Owoh responds by asking her to wash his clothes.

The brief performance quickly resonated with viewers, many of whom recognised the characters and the distinctive style that made the original film memorable.

The reunion comes more than two decades after the actors appeared together in Ukwa, a film that became part of Nkem Owoh’s rise as one of Nollywood’s most recognisable comic performers.

The 2001 film featured Owoh as Ukwa, a village man who moves to the city to live with his wealthy elder brother but ends up working as a house driver. Patience Ozokwor was among the principal cast alongside the late Amaechi Muonagor and Sam Loco Efe.

The film’s humour often centred on Ukwa’s clashes with his brother’s household, creating the memorable dynamic between Owoh and Ozokwor that audiences have continued to remember.

Their latest recreation also comes as the two veterans continue to work together on contemporary productions.

In May 2026, Ozokwor and Owoh were seen together on a movie set dancing to Ogene music, with Ozokwor expressing gratitude that the pair could still enjoy themselves and perform despite the passage of time.

The latest video has prompted an affectionate response from fans, with several viewers describing the reunion as a return to their childhood memories.

Some praised the actors for retaining the voices and comic timing associated with their earlier performances, while others celebrated them as Nollywood legends whose work helped shape the industry’s comedy tradition.

The reaction reflects the enduring appeal of characters from an earlier period of Nigerian home video, when familiar actors and recurring comic personalities became a major part of viewers’ everyday entertainment.

For younger audiences who did not grow up with Ukwa, the recreation offers a glimpse into the style of Nollywood comedy that helped establish Owoh and Ozokwor as household names.

For longtime viewers, however, the moment carries something more personal: a chance to revisit a cherished part of their childhood through two actors who remain active decades after their breakthrough years.
